This Privacy Policy explains how Expedition Urk ("the App," "we," or "I") collects, uses, and protects your information.

I am an independent developer building this App to provide a fun city exploration and trivia experience. I respect your privacy and do not sell your personal data to third parties.

1. Information I Collect

A. Location Data

To make the city quest work, the App requires access to your device's precise location while you are using the App.

Purpose: This data is used only in real-time to check if you have reached a specific checkpoint or puzzle location on the map.

Storage: I do not store your historical location tracks on any server.

B. Gameplay & Progress Data

I collect data regarding your interaction with the game content, including:

Completed routes and checkpoints.
Puzzle answers and quiz results.
Scores, achievements, and rankings.
Time spent on specific routes.

Purpose: This data is used to save your progress, generate leaderboards/rankings, and help me improve the quality of the routes and puzzles.

C. Technical & Usage Data

To ensure the App runs smoothly, I use tools like Firebase to collect:

Device type (e.g., Samsung Galaxy, iPhone).
OS version (e.g., Android 14, iOS 17).
App version.
Crash logs (technical details on why the app closed unexpectedly).
Anonymous analytics (usage trends).

Purpose: This allows me to fix bugs, monitor app stability, and understand which features are most popular.

2. What I Do NOT Collect

To protect your privacy, I explicitly do not collect or engage in the following:

❌ No continuous background tracking (location is only used while you play).
❌ No selling of personal data to third parties.
❌ No access to your private content (Contacts, Photos, or Microphone).
❌ No profiling for advertising purposes or displaying third-party ads.

3. Third-Party Services

I use the following trusted external services to help run the App. These providers have their own privacy policies:

Google Maps Platform: To display the city map and navigation tiles.
Google Firebase / Google Play Services: For authentication, analytics, and crash reporting.
App Store / Google Play: For processing any in-app purchases or billing (I do not see your credit card information).

4. Children’s Privacy

This App is intended for users aged 13 and older. I do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal data, please contact me so I can delete it.

5. Data Retention

Crash/Analytics Data: Retained by Google Analytics for a limited period (e.g., 2–14 months) to allow for trend analysis, after which it is automatically deleted.
Game Progress: Retained associated with your account/device to ensure you can continue playing where you left off.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your region (such as the GDPR in Europe or CCPA in California), you may have rights regarding your data, including the right to request deletion. You can usually achieve this by using the "Delete Account" feature within the app settings or by contacting me.
